Variety of Assessment
During my practicum I used a variety of assessment tools and types of assessment to meet the needs of a variety of learners.
For formative assessment I used technology and applications such as Plickers, Socrative, and Kahoot to engage the students, as well as provide a meaningful learning opportunity for them to consider thoughts, ideas, and concepts both individually and in groups. I also used annecdotal notes, kept records in case of a need for the pyramid of intervention, and used whiteboards and stickynotes for exit slips. Using interactive notebooks was a good way to help students stay organized and to contain all of their notes and learning into one booklet in which I would have students complete a checklist to ensure they weren't missing any information or notes.
For summative assessments I provided projects that would give students choice in order to best meet their learning needs such as including hands on, written, and verbal components. I also gave students choice in how they presented their ideas in order to best suit their needs and interests such as using technology or could do it by hand.
